I've always dug Patrick Ames' vibe. He speaks his truth through music and is best known in the last few years for releasing tracks that focus on the divisive political climate.
Well from what I'm hearing, this ain't that. This is described in his one-sheet as dance music. Ok. That would be out of character. But the thought of it does intrigue me. A Patrick Ames dance record is something I never thought I'd hear.
I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine (in Ames honor), throw some cans (that's industry speak for headphones), and cozy up to the sweet discoteque sounds of the latest Patrck Ames' single "You Make Me Scream."
My thoughts after the jump, per the usual.

If this is dance music, it's not like any dance music I've ever heard. I mean, you can dance to it, but it's more of a "couple of Coors Lights in a smoky blues bar" dancing. I dig the vibe for sure. It's blues music with a pop appeal. The chorus is repetitive, but it works in this context. Gone are the complex verse structures of the past Patrick Ames' tracks and in its place is whiskey-tinged simplicity. It's a nice change-of-pace. Very solid track.
